Women into business networking events

Check our events for details of the new season of Networking events.

What is Networking?

Because women approach starting and running their own businesses in different ways, providing support for female entrepreneurs requires a different, more customised approach. Networking takes place in a friendly and relaxed environment, and is targeted at women thinking about or in the process of starting a business, as well as businesswomen running companies up to three years old.

Networking can provide information, advice and first hand experience as well as offering links to organisations, business people and mentors. Skills training, personal development and detailed advice on the day-to-day practicalities of running a business are just some of the free services available to members.

What does the Networking programme involve?

Networking provides the support, encouragement, training and networks that women require to help get their business ideas up and running.

Through the programme, potential businesswomen gain practical help and guidance in pursuing the goal of running their own business. They're helped to develop the necessary skills and knowledge and connected to the appropriate sources of help and advice.

The programme also enables more businesswomen to maximise the potential of their existing businesses and formulate strategies for development and growth.

As well as inspirational speakers and the chance to meet other women like you, the WIB Networking programme helps you improve your knowledge and skills in a number of business development topics:

  • Business Planning.
  • Marketing a Business (...on a shoestring budget).
  • Funding your Business Idea.
  • E-Business.
  • Customer/Client Management.
  • Selling and Presentation Skills.

What will happen if I join the programme?

Networking members meet on a monthly basis for 8 months to attend a series of personal development and business seminars and networking events. Members also benefit from one to one counselling sessions with a Business Advisor, and group training and mentoring from established businesswomen.

Please note - Networking events are happening around Scotland throughout the year, so find out what's happening in your area now by checking our events section.

Best of all, membership of the networking programme and participation in all seminars and training is free.

Where can I find out about other women who have joined the programme?

You can read our selection of case studies about women who have all benefited from networking.
